TRAVEL; Sierras, Day 3 - The government shuts down due to budget impasse/Convict Lake

Most U.S. government services are closed or shut down because of the continuing impasse over health care, and, unbelievably, Yosemite Park is closed. An absurd and shabby action taken by desperate Republican conservatives whose convictions are indefensible and ethically bankrupt.

We went to Convict Lake because John's interest was piqued by their emails showing much fishing success.  I was skeptical because although it's one of the most beautiful Sierra lakes, we've not been lucky fishermen there after several visits.

The aspens were exquisite and shimmering.  Called to convocation, they journey up and down the canyon drainages in brilliant golden processional, attended by faithful willow acolytes.  Their autumn liturgy calls for  ceremonial garb of brightest soft chrome yellow, and their gowns trail the boulder altar stairs.

Accompanied by a warming wind. they respond with murmured dancing leaf prayers whose purpose is known but to them, yet whose rustling dance reveals all splendor and glory.
